Homeowners check your mailboxes…new tax values coming this week

Mecklenburg County homeowners’ 2011 property tax revaluation notices should start showing up in mailboxes today or tomorrow.  The notice contains the county’s estimate of the fair market value of your single-family home, townhome or vacant residential property as of January 1, 2011. This is the first piece in understanding what your new property tax bill will look like this year.  This new value, along with the tax rates that will be set by county commissioners and city and town boards in June, will determine your residential property tax bills.

You will have until March 7, 2011 to file an appeal, which has specific requirements including sending in the tear off sheet at the bottom of your notice in order to be considered.

If you have any questions about your notice or need help with an appeal, please call us at 704-439-5350 and we would be happy to assist you!
